SLOVENIA PROVIDES EMERGENCY SANITATION MATERIAL AID TO KOSOVO IN FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 PANDEMIC
"Long tradition of our assistance to Kosovo in time of need is proof of friendly relations between our countries and people", stated Slovenian Ambassador Bojan Bertoncelj at today's handover ceremony with Minister of Health Armend Zemaj.
Withstanding the unprecedented COVID-19 threat worldwide, Slovenia has acted in solidarity and responsibility by providing international in-kind assistance and humanitarian contributions to international organisations (WHO, UNRWA, ICRC).
Slovenia has also reprogrammed its entire international development activities in 2020 and earmarked such financial resources for further contributions.
In solidarity, building on bilateral cooperation and acting as responsible member of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Slovenia is responding to the requests of countries suffering of COVID-19 as much as possible, especially when countries in the region are affected.
Slovenia has not hesitated and has responded to Kosovo request via EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Today, emergency sanitation material (surgical mask, Ecocid, hand disinfectant) in the total worth of more than 100.000 EUR has been handed over.
Slovenia stands ready to continue to provide assistance if needed. Furthermore, Slovenia continues with support by specific development projects in Kosovo, implemented by Slovenian implementing agencies and non-governmental organisations.
